Obstruction lights for wind turbines and measurement masts
PROMIC supplies aircraft warning lights solutions especially developped for wind turbines and wind measurement masts.
Wind turbines beaconing
In the studies field (wind measurement mast) or in the wind turbines farms, every systems need to be marked by aircraft warning lights.
The number of obstacle lights and their arrangement on the wind turbine shall be such that the structure is indicated from every angle in azimuth. If one of the beacons set up on the wind turbine is not visible from one direction, one or more aircraft warning lights shall be added on it, in order to insure the beaconing of its complete contour.
The wind turbines beacons (MIOL AB) have to be set up on the highest point of the wind turbine, and for wind measurement masts, MIOL-B is installed at the top of the mast, while LIOL-B at the middle.
Obstruction lights design for wind turbines
Thanks to their conception, the MIOL AB are tailor-made to the wind turbines farms:
- Maintenance
Obstacle lights electronics is removed in the power supply cabinet, making the technical intervention easier.
- Compact
The 4.950 kg of the beacon enable low mechanics constraints during installation or use.
- Longevity
Thanks to the natural cooling system created by its extruded structure, the LED lifetime is increased.
Wind measurement mast beaconing
Wind measurement masts are generally painted red and white for diurnal marking, and can have heights of more than 90 meters. Therefore it is compulsory to put nocturnal obstruction lights : medium intensity (MIOL-B) on the top of the structure, and low intensity (LIOL-B) at halfway.
The wind mearsurement kit made by PROMIC includes low and medium intensity beacons, a monocristalline solar panel, a control cabinet, one or two batteries enclosures to ensure a lighting autonomy of 7 days minimum. Delivered in a wooden case, the kit is easy and fast to assembly (about 1 hour).
Wind turbines beaconing
In the case of a wind turbines farm (at least 2 wind turbines belonging to the same operator), a diurnal and nocturnal obstacle light MIOL AB shall be set up on every wind turbines of the farm.
The beacons have to flash simultaneously and to switch from day mode to night mode in a synchronised way, thanks to a GPS system.
When the total height of the wind turbine exceeds 150 meters, a second level of beaconing shall be added on the mast: at 45 meters, a low intensity obstacle light LIOL B will complete the lighting.
Above 200 meters, a beacon LIOL B will be added every 45 meters.
An emergency power cabinet (with a 12 hours autonomy minimum) can complete every installation.
