ATEX obstacle lights
Since the 1st of July 2003, the ATEX directive 94/9/CE is applied in the European Community.
It concerns the implementation of protection devices and systems used in hazardous areas.
The ATEX obstacle lights are used for the nocturnal beaconing of overhead obstructions in these hazardous areas.
The lighting varies depending on the type and intensity of the beacons:
- Low intensity type A : red steady burning lights, 10 cd (reference ICAO LIOL A)
- Low intensity type B : red steady burning lights, 32 cd (reference ICAO LIOL B)
- Medium intensity type B : red flashing lights, 2.000 cd (reference ICAO MIOL B)
LXS beacons for ATEX areas are available in voltage 24, 48VDC and 115, 230VAC.
